First Baptist Church Foundation
The Foundation was established in 2007 to provide an appropriate vehicle for our church members and others to direct financial gifts while they are living or through their will or trust upon their death. The Foundation is an approved Sec. 501(c)(3) organization to which contributions are tax-deductible. The Foundation Board of Trustees raises, manages, and disburses endowed, restricted, and unrestricted funds in accordance with the terms of the donor gifts.

How does the Foundation benefit First Baptist-Topeka?
It has blessed us in many ways, from new building infrastructure to start new ministries to new outreach programs. It has made an impact on lives from the youngest to the oldest. Some of the grants include women's Bible study, youth camping, a new telephone system, nursery coordinator, Upward Basketball & Cheerleading, and Topeka Justice Unity & Ministry Program.
Who administers the Foundation?
A nine-member Board of Trustees, elected by the Church, administers the Foundation. The senior pastor, church treasurer, and finance committee chair serve as ex-officio advisory members. Monies are prudently invested with selected professional money management organizations in accordance with Christian principles. The Foundation disburses available funds upon request by the Church, and in accordance with terms established by the donor.

Why might I be interested?
At times, church members, or others, want to make a special financial gift to the Church, but do not wish it to be included in budgeted operating funds. One might, for example, want their gift to be used specifically for Christian education. If the donor chooses to make a tax-deductible gift of appreciated property, such as stock or real estate, the increase in value might also escape taxation. The Foundation is an ideal recipient for memorials or other gifts which donors wish preserved for use in perpetuity.
