American Baptist Women (ABW)

The American Baptist Women's Ministries is a Christ-centered ministry with a commitment to encourage and empower women and girls to serve God. Their vision is that every American Baptist church has a vital women's ministry program to help women and girls develop as God's person, build God's faith community, and serve God's world.

There are three groups at First Baptist Church-Topeka that are part of the AB Women's Ministry including the Esther-Jane Circle, Roseberry Circle, and White Cross.

The Esther-Jane Circle meets on the third Wednesday of each month. They meet in the Fellowship Hall at 9:30 a.m. The leader of Esther-Jane is Joan Kerchner.

The Roseberry Circle meets on the first Tuesday of each month, usually meeting at Johnny's Tavern at 29th St and Fairlawn. Because of the outside location please let Gayle Smith know ahead of time if you can attend. The Circle meets starting at 6:00 p.m. These two groups come together to discuss the ministry, current events, and how they can support American Baptist ministries.

The White Cross is a group that comes together monthly and works on various projects that help support both local, national, and international missions. Their projects include making quilts for the Topeka Rescue Mission and Hope Street Academy; making dresses and reusable sanitary pads for girls in the Congo, and also preparing health kit bags for the Rescue Mission. Other organizations they support are the Bethel Neighborhood Center in Kansas City and Murrow Indian Children's Home in Muskogee, OK. They are led by Karen Campbell and meet on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 9:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall.
