Janet will coordinate the Senior Adult Ministry with events and activities for those age 55 and older. Previously, she was a chaplain at Midland Hospice.
Pastor Melissa Murrell
Interim Director of Children & Youth Ministries
A native of Louisiana, Melissa Murrell earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Religious Education at Louisiana College and a Master of Divinity at Wake Forest University. She has worked with children and youth in a variety of settings including churches and public schools. Melissa has two children, Kaitlyn (nearly age 9) and Aedyn (age 7).
Steve has been employed at FBC for more than 10 years as custodian and more recently was promoted to Building Superintendent. His hobbies include: teaching amateur boxing, professional boxing, and fishing. Steve and Misty have two children, Savannah and Steve Bailey III.
Director of Day Care
Kay began her employment in the infant room, and was later promoted to director. She has been employed for more than 29 years. She is married to Randy, and they have two daughters.
A native of rural Kansas, Verlee has been the administrative assistant since June of 2008, and was promoted to Office Manager in 2012. Her duties include: preparing the newsletter, bulletins, worship multimedia, updating the website, providing administrative duties for the pastoral staff, and bookkeeping duties. She loves cats, and has one indoor cat, Truman. Verlee is involved in the community by serving as a member of the Topeka Police Citizens Academy Ambassadors.
Director of Chancel Choir
John has a bachelor’s degree in organ performance from the University of Notre Dame, and a master’s in organ performance and choral conducting from the University of Kansas. John works at Reuter Organ. He lives near Hoyt with his wife and three daughters.
